Big congrats to full time resident manager Uncle John who managed a Mansfield Ski Lodge record 42 days in a row of not getting out of bed before 11.30am. That included 8 powder days! Keep up the great snoozing Uncle J.

A few seasons ago with the spirits cupboard looking very bare, club legends Leon Parnham and Peter Geels created a masterpiece with just two ingredients – vanilla icecream and jagermeister. The ‘shaggermeister’ as it has become known is now a mansfield members and guests favourite – guaranteed to warm the cockles and get your blood running hot. Make sure you ask the big bopper or the young bopper for a shaggermeister when next you come visit!

While Trevor has decided to escape to a secluded beach somewhere in the world, Michael Pavlich thought he would hold the Overnights fort in his absence. Pav was joined in the studio by John Allan the President of the Bing Crosby Society. They reminisced on some of the great moments in Bing Crosby’s life and even listened to a few of his unforgettable songs.

Committee Meeting Mt Buller Feb 2007

The Buller fires of January 2007 came perilously close to burning down our gorgeous mountain. That would have probably meant limited skiing this season as it would have not just knocked out the lift system, but also made for very dangerous tree skiing!!!

Anyway, thanks to Paul Austin and Peter and Jenny Geels for these pics which were captured during a Committee meeting held at the Lodge second weekend in February to assess things, and also whipper snipper and prune around the Lodge, at which time the Committee also attended an all-in barbecue to thank all the fire-fighters and other mountain staff for their awesome effort in saving our Lodge, and all the others of course.

Our president, Robyn Cracknell, presented a cheque for $3000 on behalf of all 30 Lodge members to the fire-fighters as a small token for putting their lives on the line and ensuring that we can again ski-in and ski-out of Buller’s best lodge!
